人生得意須盡歡,莫使乜周空對穴;古來聖賢皆寂寞,惟有撚雀留其名。

Sadly, neither the climate nor the vegetation in Hong Kong is suitable for horses the breed. And that’s the reason why runners could only be recruited from all over the world. Ponies from Manila, Japan and Arab and horses from Australia and England were shipped here to join our races in the very beginning.
Wonder why we have a second racecourse in Shatin?
In the 1950s, the community around the Happy Valley racecourse had been too well developed that it could not expand itself anymore to satisfy the rapid growth of racing fans. Therefore, Sha Tin Racecourse was built and opened on 7th October 1978, and it has now become the home of numerous world’s major racing events as well as public entertainment and charitable activities.

Posted in Uncategorized on 04/08/2009 by spongeshitOn 26th February 1918, the crowds were cheering for the Derby Day racing until a fire broke out in a sudden, devoured more than 600 lives and left 300 people injured. Though the cause was inexplicable, the collapse of the temporary bamboo-supported public stands might spark the flame in the food stalls. Fanned by strong winds in the dry weather, it burned down everything quickly like a horror film. Probably the fire with the highest casualties in Hong Kong History.
First Draft, don’t say I’m lazy…..I’m working my ass out. Fighting on my own.

No kidding. And we have a photo proof. A 9-hole course was built at the racecourse’s centre in 1890, thanks to the Royal Hong Kong Golf Club and the Hong Kong Government, while contributing a lot to the draining and reclamation development there. Nothing is more elegant than hitting a shot with that spectacular green views.
Heard of the 150 year-old witness for the changes in racing?
Every insider of the racing business knows, “The Black Rock” around the 800 to 600-meter mark at the Happy Valley Racecourse has stayed for over 150 years and now it becomes a trademark of the Valley. Comparing the old photo with the modern view, you will be amazed by the massive change of the racecourse skyline.
Ever got stuck in finding good restaurant on a horse-racing night?
It seems the race-goers in 1890s did not have this trouble, as there were always food stalls around serving convenient and delicious Chinese cuisine. Taking a break from the racing excitement and treating their hungry soul, they might find that winning or losing no longer mattered. Note how women and children were enjoying themselves at the stalls.
Want to bring along your children to the racecourse?
Yes you could, only if you travelled back to the 1890s, when everyone enjoyed horse racing no more than just social occasions. It was until 1930s children were welcomedonly to the fifth day of the meetings. Cheers to the good old days.
Fear-ver
Posted in Uncategorized on 12/06/2009 by spongeshit

Maybe its part of the 21st Breakdown. A new Low Era.

不能一直這樣,麻木地生存下去。
歲月的廢話

就這樣子,日復日,月復月,年復年……一場沒終止的拉扯遊戲,至死方退休。

“If you know what you’re worth, go on and get what you’re worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hits. And not pointing fingers saying, you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain’t you. You’re better than that.”
Now I got that in my mind. Every moment.
